This giraffe has crossed eyes! The picture was drawn by Esther Waller, Charlie's sister, and is intended to honor kids everywhere who suffer from brain tumors.
"You got funny eyes," a kid told Charlie at kindergarten after his tumor had started to advance.
His teacher then heard him informing the classmate that it was because he had brain cancer.
Home from school in the afternoon, Charlie was playing with his toy giraffe and his doctor's kit.
"What are you doing, Charlie," his sister Esther asked.
He did not look up, concentrating on the task in hand. He answered after a pause. "Giving giraffe a new brain."
"Do you want a new brain, Charlie?" Esther asked very quietly.
Charlie nodded, his eyes filling with tears. Esther hugged him. Then their mother, Abigail, went over to the two of them and all three hugged in silence.
The next day, Esther drew the picture of the head of a giraffe -- a giraffe with cross eyes.
